The inaugural sports festival dedicated to individuals using wheelchairs and those with different abilities took place at Sukhna Lake on Saturday. Banwarilal Purohit, the Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator, inaugurated the event at the Sukhna Lake Sports Complex.

Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, a non-profit organization based in Sector 28, organized the event. This organization focuses on assisting individuals with severe disabilities resulting from spinal cord or brain injuries.

What set this event apart was that all participants were given the opportunity to take part in various sporting activities. Nicky P Kaur, the Founder of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, mentioned, “Participants from across the country, including Himachal Pradesh, joined the event. Over 50 individuals using wheelchairs participated, engaging in national boating and canoe racing championships for para-athletes, as well as activities such as archery, fencing, javelin, and a friendly kabaddi match.”
